New Delhi, September 2025 – A significant inheritance dispute has come to the Delhi High Court after actor Karisma Kapoor’s children, Samaira and Kiaan, filed a petition asking for a share of their late father Sunjay Kapur’s ₹30,000 crore fortune.
Petition against Priya Kapur
The Petition, brought forward through Karisma, alleges that Priya Sachdev Kapur, widow of Sunjay, fraudulently amended and manipulated his will to obtain full control of the estate, which supposedly included thousands of acres of farmland and real estate in Delhi. They named the Respondents, Priya and her son, Sunjay’s mother, Rani Kapur, and Shradha Suri Marwah, the executor of Sunjay’s will.
The children have requested the Court to declare them as Class I heirs and grant them each a one-fifth share in their father’s estate. They also asked that Sunjay’s estate be frozen until this issue can be resolved.
Supposedly forged will
The petition states that Sunjay did not say anything about a will. The children claim that Priya hid the will article for over seven weeks and produced it only at a family meeting held on July 30. They have claimed that the will dated March 21, 2025 is forged.
Priya has been issued a notice by the High Court to disclose particulars regarding all the movable and immovable properties within her knowledge as of June 12, the day of Sunjay’s heart attack in London. The next hearing is scheduled for October 9.
Sunjay Kapur’s fortune
Sunjay Kapur, 53, was chairman of Sona Comstar, India’s largest auto components business, worth ₹31,000 crore ($4 billion). At the time of his death, Forbes assessed his worth at $1.2 billion (₹10,300 crore). His fortunes had been as much as $1.6 billion, putting him ahead of Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan, worth about $880 million (₹7,700 crore).
Arrangements for the children
Sunjay purportedly made arrangements for his children’s future. He had given them both ₹14 crore bonds. The children were also to receive a monthly income of ₹10 lakh. Karisma Kapoor has also been given a property which originally belonged to Sunjay’s father.
Family conflict increases.
This particular incident has already added to the existing discord within the Kapur family. Previously, Sunjay’s mother Rani, complained about Priya being appointed as a Director of Sona Comstar, saying that it was an improper influence.
The inheritance fight is now one of the best-tracked legal battles in India, with forgery allegations, family hatreds, and a fortune bigger in size than many Bollywood stars.
