During the IPL auction, the Punjab Kings unintentionally purchased two players, resulting in a bid reversal for Shashank Singh.

Confusions are typical at IPL auctions, whether it’s bid reversal, player sums, or the return of unsold players in the auction pool. In the most recent example, the Punjab Kings accidentally purchased cricketer Shashanj Singh during an IPL auction. Despite numerous attempts, the auctioneer refused to allow the team to withdraw their bid.

Despite the misunderstanding, Preity Zinta, co-owner of PBKS, raised the paddle after a quick debate with her team members, sealing Shashank’s purchase.

However, as the auction progressed to the next round of participants, PBKS recognized their error and notified the auctioneer that they had misidentified Shashank for another athlete.

Shashank Singh of Chattisgarh was purchased by the Punjab Kings for Rs 20 lakh. However, Singh’s auction narrative did not finish there.

After speaking with members, PBKS co-owner Preity Zinta raised her hand minutes after finishing the IPL offer for Singh for Rs 20 lakh to interrupt IPL auctioneer Mallika Soni. The interruption was made to reverse Sashank Singh’s auction bid after the Punjab Kings purchased another player by mistake.

The squad had already purchased Ashutosh Sharma and Vishwanath Pratap Singh for a base price of Rs 20 lakh each. When the auctioneer called out Shashank Singh’s name, Preity Zinta raised the paddle to clinch the deal. Following that, the auctioneer completed the formality of dropping the hammer to certify the acquisition of Sashank Singh for the Punjab Kings.

The auctioneer then moved on to the final player for bidding, Tanay Thyagrajan, an uncapped all-rounder. She was stopped, however, by the mayhem at the PBKS table. Ness Wadia, head coach Trevor Bayliss, and others appeared perplexed amid the PBKS members’ debates. Wadia and Zinta raised their hands to interrupt the auctioneer and express their dissatisfaction with the player they had bid on, Shashank Singh.

“Was it an incorrect name?” “You don’t want the player?” Mallika inquired. “This is about Shashank Singh.” But the hammer has been dropped. Both player numbers 236 and 237 were assigned to you.”

Following that, Wadia appeared to claim that the team had wrongly bid for Shashank. But the auctioneer kept reminding the gang that the hammer had fallen on Shashank and there was nothing they could do about it. Finally, the squad agreed to continue their haphazard bid for Shashank. The team later won the bid for Tanay Thyagrajan.
