MyFitnessPal, Oura, and Peloton applications were among the first to use Health Connect. According to Google, Android users will be able to sync and receive credit for their Peloton exercises in applications such as Oura, MyFitnessPal, WeightWatchers, and Lifesum. Members of Peloton will also be able to share their workout stats across the ecosystem of applications they use to promote their overall fitness.

How does the Health Connect app function?

According to Google’s blog post, Health Connect offers a standardized data structure that supports 40+ data types across six categories. The schema addresses a wide range of use cases, including exercises, sleep tracking, and vital indicators. Health Connect even supports complicated aggregations, allowing you to totally tailor your searches to the use case of your app.

Before Health Connect, developers had to create multiple API connections to share data between different apps, which was time-consuming and expensive to build and maintain. With the new Google app, various health and fitness apps can communicate with one another and provide a user with more comprehensive health insights.
