Getepay, a digital payments platform based in Jaipur, has received final authorization from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to operate as an online Payment Aggregator (PA). The approval, granted under the RBI’s payment regulation framework, enables the company to legally provide payment services and full digital solutions throughout India.
Established to assist small and medium enterprises, Getepay has already supported over 1.5 million merchants. These merchants include kirana stores, small retailers, e-commerce stores, educational institutions, service businesses, and local manufacturers. The platform has been supporting merchants primarily in Tier 2, Tier 3 and rural India, as there is limited access to modern digital channels with these small businesses.
With the new RBI license, Getepay will be looking to expand its operations around India. The platform is looking to onboard thousands more small businesses to the platform’s system, while providing a full range of digital services to the specific needs of the merchants it supports. The initiative includes services that will allow business owners to be more efficient in running their businesses and help them grow much more quickly to compete in the digital economy now.
“We started Getepay with the belief that every small merchant in India, whether in a remote village or a bustling city, deserves access to simple, secure, and scalable digital tools. With this RBI license,” said Pravin Sharma, Founder and CEO of Getepay “ we are now ready to deepen that impact, scale across Bharat, and empower MSMEs with not just payments but complete commerce enablement. This is about building a digital foundation for India’s next wave of economic growth.”
Getepay is currently expanding its service offerings, in addition to providing digital payments. In the coming months, the company plans to launch additional features like digital storefronts, inventory management systems, and GST billing modules. These tools are firmly designed to equip small business owners with everything necessary to run their business in a modern digital manner.
Angel investor Mahavir Pratap Sharma commented, “Getepay isn’t just another fintech, it’s a company that’s grounded in Bharat and solving real, structural problems. The RBI license reinforces their credibility, and I believe Getepay is poised to become a key force in reshaping how small merchants participate in India’s digital economy.”
With this new approval, Getepay now expects to formalize over 10 million MSMEs in the years to come. Its goal is clear: to empower entrepreneurs at the very grassroots and bring them into India’s rising digital economy. The company is also developing educational campaigns to help business owners understand the digital transformation benefits, likely providing additional confidence in cashless transactions. This will support a more inclusive digital economy that works for every part of society.
