Apple is all set to launch its next generation iPad Air tablets soon. There was speculation that the new iPad Air may come with a better display like the premium iPad Pro models. However, latest reports suggest that Apple has decided against using mini LED technology in the iPad Air for a good reason. Let me explain what this means for customers in simple terms.

Apple Decides Against Advanced Display

One of the most vital things you must know is that the display of the iPad Pro tablets is a mini-LED display. The contrast takes care for these features, such as higher brightness, improved blackness and pictures attached to OLED. In addition, using these alternatives saves electricity as well. Some consumers regarded the amazing display as the display intended to be placed on the just-hatched iPad Air.

The statement, however, is not true, as it appears Apple has altered its strategies. Sources informants confirm that in the new line of the iPad Air, regardless of the size, bigger 12.9 inch size will still continue to have its LCD screen. This is to keep the iPad Air at the entry level, making it more accessible for the masses

The utilization of mini LED would have doubled or even tripled the production cost of the iPad Air and thus negatively affected the entire invention. Some customers might have requested this higher resolution of the display. As a consequence, that would have inflated the price. Apple aims to fill the space between one of a kind iPad and iPad Pro that steps beyond the basic model with the iPad Air.

Reliable display analyst Ross Young shared that keeping costs low by sticking to LCD is important for Apple to differentiate the iPad Air from the more expensive iPad Pro line. The Pro models will likely switch to even better OLED screens later.

So in summary, though mini LED would have offered an improved viewing experience, it does not align with Apple’s goal of making the iPad Air accessible to a wide audience. The regular LCD should still offer good quality. Existing customers also have the option to spend more for an iPad Pro if they need top-of-the-line features. This decision makes the new iPad Air an attractive package for most users. Of course, we will have to wait for the actual launch to experience the tablets firsthand. But keeping prices in check seems like a practical move from Apple.
