Bengaluru, September 3, 2025 — WaterScience, a brand that delivers filtration solutions for non-drinking water, has raised ₹1.4 crore through Velocity, a growth capital platform backed by Valar Ventures through Peter Thiel. In a press release, the company said the new funding will be utilized to scale its growth, improve brand marketing, and expand into new product categories.

Focus on Non-Potable Water

Founded in 2014 by Sudeep Nadukkandy, Pavithra Rao, and Mohammed Iqbal, WaterScience focuses on solving key water quality challenges that impact more than 95% of household water usage outside of drinking.

To combat that gap, WaterScience built a broad product line, with over 40 solutions, including shower and tap filters, kitchen and appliance filters, water softeners, and whole-house filtration systems. These products reduce the problems caused by hard water, chlorine, and other contaminants to make daily water safer and healthier!

Expansion Strategy and Market Reach

As it stands, WaterScience says its products are used in over 2 million homes in India. With the new funding, the company has the ambition of reaching another 1 million households during FY 2025–26. The brand also claims that it is growing at a robust rate of 70% year-on-year.

WaterScience has established a robust sales presence both online and offline. The products are sold on online marketplaces such as Amazon, Flipkart, and Shopify, and are sold through a dealer network of over 1,000 physical retail stores.

Commenting on the funding, Co-founder Pavithra Rao said: “This funding is a strong validation of our mission to make water safer and healthier for every Indian home. With Velocity’s support, we will scale faster and innovate across new categories, ensuring that WaterScience continues to set the benchmark for water solutions in India. Having already reached 2 million homes, we are excited to add another 1 million this year.”
